The First Spanish Smith?
I haven’t written anything for a while as my wife and I have been preparing for our first child.
With my wife (although not technically married) being Spanish, well actually Canarian, from the Canary Islands, our first child, Sofia will have 2 surnames like most Spanish citizens. The first surname is that of the father and the second being that of the mother. Oh also, when married the women does not take the husbands name like in England, it stays as is.
So, our daughter Sofia will have a very old traditional English surname, SMITH and the first surname of her mother PLASENCIA (which is her dads surname). As is England, the Fathers surname is the one that always carries.
I wonder if she is the first ever Smith Plasencia? If you find one, please let me know.
